We started our day with a trip to Sea World San Diego seeing the killer whales and getting soaked on the Atlantis Ride! Luckily it was a hot day and we dried off before we had to go.
In the afternoon we had a long drive to Palm Springs. We had to take the back roads to avoid some traffic jams and we almost missed our dinner reservation at The Peaks – a restaurant at at the top of an ‘aerial tramway’. The tramway takes you from the Valley Station at 2,643 ft. up to the Mountain Station at 8,516 ft. Quite an experience, in the dark!
Despite the late hour, our hosts in Palm Springs – Patty and Larry – gave us the warmest of welcomes. The Hotel California [yes, really!] is a beautiful guest house with rooms around a lovely courtyard full of flowers and hummingbirds! We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Palm Springs.
We ended our evening with pink champagne and a dip in the hot tub.
